Second time at Playa Cabana. It is really loud and crowded at night.
We started out with guacamole and ceviche. The guacamole tasted really good, with a nice amount of lime, not too much.
I ordered the LOBSTER TACOS, which are not on the menu for some reason.
DH ordered the ANCHO BRAISED SHORTRIB-BRISKET CRISPY TACOS w/ AAA Ontario Beef shortrib braised in ancho chiles wrapped in fresh corn tortillas and griddled to a golden crispiness. Our friends ordered the SURF & TURF BURRITO with sauteed tiger prawns and chipotle-marinated rib-eye steak, and the TACOS DE PESCADO (BAJA-STYLE) featuring orange roughy. Everyone enjoyed their food.
First time at Jump, which has been on my wishlist for ages. Was hoping to see some lobster on the menu but no such luck.
The space is beautiful, with glass ceilings letting sunlight flood the room.
It’s very corporate. Most of the people were wearing suits, and this was Valentine’s Day.
ROASTED SUSTAINABLE BLUE ARCTIC CHAR w/ broccolini, pistachio dressing, poached egg
THAI SHRIMP & CRAB CAKES (the Friday lunch special) w/ cucumber bean sprout salad and sweet chili Thai basil mayo. Saw lots of people ordering this.
Winterlicious $25 3-course prix fixe dinner menu:
I ordered off of the regular menu:
Chicken laksa: DH said this was extremely hot (spicy)!
Pineapple shrimp fried rice
Thai sticky rice w/ pandanus leaf
First time at The Chase Fish & Oyster. I went around 11:30 am and the place was nearly empty.
I ordered the lobster “waldorf” roll, w/ candied walnuts, apple, buttermilk, milk bun, dill yukon chips, $21. Yes it tasted good but I need more for a lunch. This was a ridiculously small portion. It would take at least two of these to make a lunch, and then you’d be out $42. Reminded me of when Rock Lobster used to do popups, their lobster rolls were the same size and they were about $4 each which I thought was overpriced…LOL!
If you’re loaded and on a diet, come on down to The Chase Fish & Oyster!
Winterlicious three course $15 prix fixe menu
Winter spinach salad
Crispy bassa. Excellent! I usually avoid tartar sauce but this one I actually liked!
Sticky toffee pudding. Second time having this dessert during Winterlicious
Winterlicious $25 prix fixe dinner menu:
Amazed by this beet salad + goat cheese + pickled red onion + walnuts + sherry dressing!
Lentil soup + curried yogurt + pulled pork which DH said was a thousand degrees.
Pan seared chicken supreme + parsnip puree + onion jam which DH said was actually a Cornish hen based on tiny size of drumstick. I don’t like onions but I actually liked the onion jam.
Crispy Shanghai beef + noodles + bok choy which DH said was more like an appetizer
Soft serve cone + frozen hazelnut chocolate rocks
Warm apple crumble + anglaise
Winterlicious 3-course dinner $25 prix fixe menu. You cannot get much better than this for a $25 Winterlicious dinner.
