My 4th visit to Richmond Station. One of the best restaurants in Toronto in my opinion.
They change their menus each season. Gone are some of my faves — beet salad, trout almondine, cracker jack 😦
Daily Chalkboard Specials:
We started with the Polenta Fries w/ spicy mayonnaise, marinara, cilantro. They seemed skinnier and kind of misshapen than when I’ve had them before.
My sisters love salad, so we ordered Gillian’s Green Salad w/ whipped ricotta, radicchio, croutons and walnuts. This seemed like their beet salad without the beets. I miss the beet salad!
I ordered the Rainbow Trout. It comes with onion soubise, potatoes, peas, lemon marmalade. I don’t like onions so I asked for squash puree instead. The subtle lemon marmalade is just amazing! The fish was a bit underdone to me. I think it was sous vide, I’m not sure.
My sister ordered the Pan-Fried Soft Shell Crab from the chalkboard specials. This was her first time having soft shell crab and she did not know what she was getting into.
My other sister and husband ordered the Grilled Pork Chop from the chalkboard specials.
We were pretty full but dessert was calling out to me. I chose the Strawberry Shortcake w/ charred strawberries, white chocolate ice, and black sesame. It didn’t look great but tasted great. Cake was kind of on the smallish side.
Husband ordered the Nutella Bar w/ strawberries and citrus from the chalkboard specials.
This menu didn’t really rock my world. I’ve had better meals at Richmond Station in the past, but it’s still one of my fave restaurants in Toronto. Service was excellent.
