Brunch @ Annona

Our first time for brunch at Annona.  It’s a beautiful space in the Park Hyatt in Yorkville. There was a large party all having the same menu when we arrived, and we saw them get these beautiful desserts w/ swan-shaped pastries, and the Chef came out to talk to them about it.

I started with a fresh squeezed orange juice.

I was torn between the lobster grilled cheese and the seafood risotto, and with a huge grin on his face, the waiter steered me toward the Lobster Grilled Cheese Sandwich w/ Lobster, Aged White Cheddar, Brioche, Purée of Roasted Tomato Soup. Oooh it was delicious. It had large chunks of lobster. The bread was amazing. I loved the presentation of the sandwich cut up into strips and stacked in a pile. It made it easy to eat, and I didn’t have to pick it up with my hands. My sister loved it too. The tomato soup was OK, not very rich or creamy.

My sister ordered the CRAB CAKE BENEDICT w/ Sautéed Spinach, Grilled Tomato, Hollandaise, Steamed Asparagus. She ate about half of it and then claimed to be too full to finish.

My other sister ordered the CREATE YOUR OWN dish. She chose PAN-ROASTED FISH OF THE DAY (BLUE MARLIN) w/ Citrus Salsa, Sauteed Spinach and a Chef Salad. This was not a good choice. The fish was dry and she requested additional citrus salsa which helped.

They surprised us with a complimentary birthday cake for my sister, which she liked a lot.

Our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful, but he did seem to disappear toward the end.
